A succession-design advisory for creative service businesses
briefHigh stakes, multiple audiences, emotional complexity and far-reaching consequences.
It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with everything to play for, and a creative challenge you've never faced before — and probably never will again.
And just like any great brief, it benefits from great design
.
actThe audiences are tougher. The stakes are higher. The brief is more personal.
But the journey demands the same skills and rigour as any other creative project — defining a future state, building belief and navigating complexity. It's a blend of strategic clarity, critical analysis, infectious optimism, appropriate risk-taking — and most importantly, rallying people around a big idea.
It's business transformation, by design.
Ready for a very
Different Tuesday?
In every succession story there are three chapters where the right support can change everything.
The goals are universal: maximise value, preserve culture, and unlock real choice about what comes next — for you, and for everyone who helped you get there.
Different Tuesday travels the full length of your succession journey — designing the future you want, readying the business to make it possible and carrying the change through after the deal is done.
1Find conviction

Get clear on where you're trying to get to — personally and commercially. Find the sweet spot between what's desirable, feasible and viable. Turn indecision into conviction, then action.
2Build readiness

Prime the business for sustainable change. Recognise and address all the critical value levers that make you scalable, investable, sellable — or maybe even keepable.
3Carry change
the nextWhen you step back, others step up — or in. Futureproof your equity by supporting and integrating the next generation of leaders who inherit the opportunity and the obligation.
Yours is the only agenda
Focused on decisions, actions, accountability and consequences, Different Tuesday offers peer-level, independent advice centred entirely on finding the solution that’s right for you.
Scale, sell, divest, merge, step back, hand it to the team — everything is on the table. Except commission.

There's a belief at the heart of Different Tuesday — design isn't what you make, it's what you make possible.
I leveraged that belief in my own agency, one I acquired through an MBO, scaled, took through the motions of a trade sale and ultimately transitioned to employee ownership.
Throughout that journey I battled the duality of ownership — the unparalleled thrill of striving against the dull weight of not knowing how or when it ends, trapped between the value I'd built and my inability to reach it.
That combination of creative rigour and lived succession experience gives me the empathy and context to help agency owners design the end of their business story — with the same care
they gave the beginning.
As a Board Director of the Design Business Association, I work closely with the management team to help member agencies drive design further up the agenda in business and government, elevating universal confidence in design. I'm also an active DBA mentor, working with creative leaders to help them advance their careers and businesses.
Having led my own creative agency in its transition to an employee-owned business, I remain an active advocate for all things EOT through my engagement with the Employee Ownership Association. I also serve as External Trustee Director for several employee-owned businesses.
